Summary: In-person learning is scheduled to begin the week of October 5 with a phase-in schedule for students who are returning to school buildings.

This phase-in process will allow for our youngest learners to return to school first, create orientation time for students who are transitioning up to a new building, and provide time for campuses to train students on health and safety protocols.

The proposed phase-in schedule for in-person learning is:

Oct. 5-6: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th and 10th grades

Oct. 7: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th and 11th grades

Oct. 8: Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grades

Students who have selected in-person learning will continue virtual learning until their assigned return to school day.
Budgetary Impact:
Recommendation: Recommend approval of the phase-in schedule for in-person learning to begin the week of October 5th, and approval for the district to submit a request to the Texas Education Agency to extend the start of the 2020-2021 school year transition beyond the four-week limit, as presented.
